Ex-pat Thanksgiving at Ahipara

This was the view from the deck of our hosts’ house–wow! I ate my dinner looking out at this gorgeous vista and chatting with a group of really great fellow state-siders.

When everyone had arrived, we all held hands and expressed thanks for something. A. was thankful for wonderful friends and family and also for the wonderful mashed potatoes on the counter.

I got a serving of wild turkey plus advice on where to go hiking from a couple of world-travelers (they give Bhutan a big thumbs-up), a great conversation with fellow ex-pat parents, and an overnight stay with a beach walk the next morning. Pretty good substitute for eating with family, though we’re missing them!

We found fish and crabs playing hide-and-seek in the tidepools.

On this lovely stretch of sand I did my morning yoga; B. and S. tossed the frisbee, and K. chatted with R. (our hosts’ daughter).
