Kohukohu lies across the harbor from Rawene, a brief 15-minute ferry ride over.
Rawene as seen from the ferry.
Kohukohu itself is 3 km from the ferry landing, and we wondered if the road into town was pedestrian-friendly. Nope. It is, however, a beautiful drive through the hills.
We stopped in Village Arts Gallery and had a lovely long chat with the artists. This white-walled gallery is inspiring, and I’m looking forward to seeing more local art as they change the displays throughout the year.
We got a delicious afternoon bite at the cafe next door, and then back to our Rawene.
